How Social Media Killed the Newspaper Business and Other Stories
Remember that time President Uhuru Kenyatta broke the news that newspapers are now only good for wrapping meat? Well, he might have been on to something…or perhaps he has a more intimate connection to Kenyan women than we thought. News just in: Social media has all but decimated newspapers in the women segment. A whopping 62 per cent maintain zero interaction with them, and the highest portion represents the low-income classes. We are living in a time when people want information to catch up with them, not the other way around. Broadcast media is not fairing any better: only 27 per cent of social media users have maintained or increased their interaction with radio, and almost 60 per cent watch less TV or have altogether stopped.
