Who Will Save Kenyans from Social Media Hacking?

Fear of Social Media Account Hacking Haunts Many

Social media is a leading internet destination for Kenyans. While a safe experience overall (82% faced no problems) some dangers still lurk. As found by the latest Wakenya study, account hacking was the top problem by far. Out of the 18% with a problem, 63% said they had experienced hacking. At a distant second and third place were addiction and cyber bullying – which sometimes receive more attention. The rise of content creators (4 out of 10) is encouraging, but if social account hacking combines with identity theft problems (22%), the impact on Kenyans could be costly.
