	It is official! In Africa, mothers, politicians and sportsmen have the greatest influence. Mother appears among the top two in 9 out of 11 countries where this research was conducted. Political icon Nelson Mandela is mentioned in three countries among the top three role models. Other statesmen who feature are Kofi Annan and Julius Nyerere. 2008 FIFA footballer of the year Ronaldinho captures attention in three countries. His compatriots Ronaldo and Haile Gebreselassie represent sportsmen who have earned themselves a place as leading role models.
