The vicissitudes of life appear to be making Kenyan’s an illogical people. We are becoming less intelligible. It is harder to predict our responses to commonplace occurrences. As the series of graphs below illustrates, our behaviour does not even fit within Alan Greenspan’s definition of “irrational exuberance.”

Why, when our finances are stretched to the extent that our living conditions are worsening and our hope in economic recovery is plummeting do we worry less about the escalating crime, take more risks, and – get this – smarten up our appearances? People with some authority on such matters have claimed that, when there is very little to lose, bizarre actions may come about. But beautifying oneself while down and out? We may be losing it.

The message here is market to the youth as you would to the middle aged.
