News just in: a whopping 88% of Kenyan youth get their online news from social media and 67% from chatting platforms such as WhatsApp.
This is according to Consumer Insight’s Holla Report which reveals that there is a growing migration towards social media as a reliable source of online news. Only 30% of the youth interviewed revealed that they rely on local media houses for news. And that’s the news about online news.
|This article is condensed from Holla, Consumer Insight's biennial youth study that documents the changing trends of the youth of East Africa. Using a sample of 1,200 youths per country, the study uses a structured questionnaire to talk to male and female youth aged 7 to 24, living in urban and peri-urban areas and collects data on their lifestyle choices, media exposure and usage, and last but not least, product usage habits.|
